Day 12 - Tuesday

We woke up early today, got ready, and had breakfast.  Breakfast was OK.  E was not interested in eating anything we offered her.  She spent the majority of the time screaming and throwing things.  We just tried to get everyone fed as quickly as possible and then get the heck out of there.  After breakfast we headed back to the office we were at yesterday to finalize all the adoption stuff.

There was more paperwork where we answer a few questions with the government official, sign some papers, stamp our thumbprints over our signatures and then print E's handprint.  Then we do it all over again with the notary.

China Day 16-2

The office was super hot again even though it was early in the morning.  They hadn't fixed the air conditioner from the day before and it didn't look like they planned to fix it anytime soon.

China Day 12-3

E is still trying to figure us out.  You can see our guide in the background with the red striped shirt.  She was holding my phone and taking some pictures of us signing the documents for us.  E was all over the place at the office while we were waiting for the officials to show up and while we were trying to sign paperwork.

China Day 12-5

We all decided to wear our shirts for our official complete family day!  I brought a couple for the girls but they were so huge on them I decided against it.  Even S's was huge! I'm pretty sure we'll never get a picture where everyone is looking at the camera again!

China Day 12-6

Here we are with the nanny (lady in yellow) and the orphanage worker (in red).

China Day 12-7

This sign was hanging up in the government office and I found it very ironic.  China is ALL about appearances.

China Day 12-8

This picture is very typical of E - every toy/cup/object she can manage to hold at once and something in her mouth.  She was always chewing on something and holding tightly to everything else she could.  She has gotten better though.  She still likes to put everything in her mouth but the constant chewing isn't anywhere near as bad as it was at the beginning.  She would FREAK out if you took her water cup to refill or or something and now she can give it up willingly.

China Day 12-9

We also found out that we could visit E's orphanage on Wednesday (the next day) for 1700 RMB and decided we should do it.  It would be a 2 1/2 hour trip each way and would probably take us most of the day.

After everything was signed and official we had a free day and a very AWFUL day.  Dealing with E was getting really hard on everyone, especially the other kids.  And there was no place for them to really go to escape it.  We spent most of the time sitting on the floor of the hotel room and trying to entertain the littles.  The big kids have really enjoyed all their iPad time - not something they get to do at home very often.  Here they're on them as much as they want.  I'd like to be out exploring a little more but it is just too stinking hot!

After lunch I busted out the Oreos and gave a few to the kiddos.  E has obviously had an Oreo before - she immediately took it apart and started licking the center!  G was a big fan too but not as experienced.  China Day 16-3

At about 3 pm China time (2 a.m. Dallas time) we got an email from a friend back home and found out my dad was in emergency surgery for a ruptured bowel.  We only got a tiny bit of information and couldn't call or talk to anyone.  It was so awful and I was so worried.  That evening, when it was early morning in Dallas, I was able to text my sister and get a few answers and then facetimed with her later after I got the little girls in bed.  Thank heavens for free imessaging!  I felt much better after talking to her for a little bit but we were still worried.  It was just a really tough day.

My dad is doing much better and is out of the hospital and healing now.  In the midst of all this my parents and my sister were both moving (my sister bought my parents' house and my parents bought a new one) and doing all the closings on the houses.  It was so crazy for them!
